Skilled Independent visa (subclass 189)
This visa is for points-tested skilled professionals who are not sponsored by an employer or family member or nominated by a state or territory government. This visa allows you to live and work in Australia as a permanent resident. You might be eligible to apply for this visa if invited. When you will receive the letter of invitation, you must also have:
- Nominated an occupation that is on the relevant skilled occupation list
- Obtained positive skills assessment for that occupation
- Age under 50 years
- Achieved the score specified in your letter of invitation based on the factors in the points test
- At least competent English (IELTS score 6.0)
- Work experiences requirement
Skilled Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 489)
This visa allows skilled workers to live and work in specified regional areas in Australia for up to four years. The applicant might be eligible to apply for this visa if invited. When invited, the applicant must also have-
- been nominated by an Australian State or Territory government agency or sponsored by an eligible relative living in a designated area
- nominated an occupation that is on the relevant skilled occupations list
- a suitable skills assessment for that occupation
- not yet turned 50 years of age
- achieved the score specified in your letter of invitation based on the factors in the points test
- at least competent English
Partner visa (sub-classes 820 and 801)
This visa allows the spouse or de-facto partner of an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen to live in Australia. The temporary Partner visa (subclass 820) is the first stage towards a permanent Partner visa (subclass 801). The applicant must be in Australia when he/she applies and also when this visa is decided.
Visitor visa (subclass 600)
This visa lets you visit Australia: to visit or for business visitor purposes for up to three, six or 12 months.
Points Tested Skilled Migration
To apply for a Points Tested Skilled Migration visa, at time of invitation the applicant must nominate an occupation that is on the relevant Skilled Occupation List (SOL). The applicant is also required to provide evidence that he/she has assessed his/her skills as suitable for that nominated occupation by the relevant assessing authority.
